The forecast path for Hurricane Ernesto, currently east of Florida and moving north, has shifted to the east and the storm is expected to pass the Maritimes by.
As the storm was forming it appeared it might bring heavy rain and wind to P.E.I., but CBC meteorologist Trevor Adams said that danger has passed.
“We don’t have to worry about it. It’s really not going to impact Prince Edward Island,” said Adams.
“Possibly an event, maybe, for Cape Breton, but really not impacting the Maritimes.”
Up until early morning Sunday Ernesto’s path appears to be on a direct line for Nova Scotia and P.E.I., but after that it is expected to turn to the east and pass by well off the coast.
