Charlottetown’s Gold Cup Parade takes place Friday morning, April 16. Here’s a look at how it will affect traffic in and out of the downtown area through the day.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the corner of North River Road and McGill Avenue, then runs down to Brighton Road east to Great George Street. It runs down Great George to Rochford Street, where it turns north to Fitzroy Street, and ends in the government parking lot.
Parking on the parade route is prohibited starting at midnight Friday, and parking in the provincial government parking lot off Terry Fox Drive is prohibited starting at 8 p.m. Thursday.
The streets of the parade route will be closed starting at 9 a.m.
North River Road, from Belvedere Avenue to McGill Avenue, and Kirkwood Drive, between North River Road and Trafalgar Street, will be closed as staging areas for the parade starting at 7 a.m. Friday.
Restrictions are expected to remain in place until about noon, but traffic will be heavy on many streets following the parade.
T3 Transit is suspending some routes during the parade. Visit the T3 Transit web site for details.
