Spring brings a bounty of fresh blooms and an amazing palette of colour with more shades of green than you can imagine; the seasonal shops open and the waters begin to warm. In June, lupins make their appearance and the festival season kicks off. In summer, the sun sets later, giving more daylight hours to take in all the Island has to offer. Enjoy the warm salt-air breeze and make a splash in the sea or go for a round of golf and savour our delicious fresh seafood. In fall, the Island is painted with bright orange, yellow and red to make hiking, cycling and apple picking even more enjoyable. In September, the Fall Flavours Festival is dedicated to our culinary community and includes the popular PEI International Shellfish Festival. Winter brings shorter days – perfect for cozying up with live music and drinks by the fire. The fresh snow and cooler temperatures are perfect for snowshoeing, skiing, fat biking and ice skating. In February, Charlottetown celebrates The Ice City Festival, featuring wagon rides, sugar shacks, ice sculptures, and endless activities. No matter when you arrive on Prince Edward Island, you won’t want to leave!

One of the best parts of being on an island is being surrounded by beaches and ours are world class. It’s hard to choose which beach to visit first. All 1100 kilometres of shoreline is beautiful and waiting for you to explore. Choose the south side of the Island for warm water and red sand, then head to the north side for its rolling surf and pristine white sand. Relax in the sunshine, take a dip, make a sandcastle, walk along the red cliffs and watch the sunset over the ocean. There is nothing quite like it. Many of our provincial and national park beaches offer accessibility measures such as mobility mats and beach wheelchairs to help all visitors explore our shoreline. Grab your sunscreen and a towel; you’ll feel lighter at the beach.

The Prince Edward Island National Park spans over 60 km along the north shore with signature views of rugged, red sandstone cliffs. The PEI National Park and many of our provincial parks offer interpretive programs for visitors of all ages throughout the summer season. The Island has an incredible cast of musicians, dancers, storytellers and writers so it’s only fitting that we boast some of the finest theatre and musical performances in the country. Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ returns to the Charlottetown Festival along with music icon Alan Doyle in the world premiere of the musical comedy Tell Tale Harbour. Also, in downtown Charlottetown, Anne & Gilbert: The Musical will be staged at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall. Check out the Watermark Theatre in North Rustico, Harmony House Theatre in Hunter River, Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside, The Guild in Charlottetown and the Island’s other community playhouses for intimate productions and incredible acoustics.
